What is Community Respite?

Community Respite is a short-term, out-of-home service that cares for individuals with developmental disabilities in a certified community setting — such as a respite home, camp, or agency site. Primary caregivers get a real, guilt-free break, while the individual stays safe, supported, and engaged in activities they actually enjoy.

Who Qualifies for Community Respite?

Community Respite may be right for your family if the individual:

  • Has a developmental disability and a DODD waiver that includes respite

  • Enjoys — or would blossom with — social time in a community setting

  • Has a primary caregiver who needs time to rest and recharge

Not sure whether respite is in your plan? Ask your SSA, or call us at 614-333-8256 — we'll help you find out.

How to Get Started

Getting started is simple and supportive:

  • Talk with your SSA about adding respite to your service plan

  • Confirm the respite hours available in your waiver

  • Choose Frontline Healthcare as your respite provider

  • Tell us about your loved one — routines, interests, and needs

  • Schedule respite time — a few hours, overnight, or a weekend

  • Rest easy knowing they're safe, engaged, and having fun
